What Hi-FI thought the Sonos Playbar offered the classic Sonos experience - which is no bad thing. The sound is wide and dynamic. There may be better devices on the market if you simply want to enhance the quality of TV and movies (e.g the Yamaha YSP-2500) - but if you are not after a full-blown surround sound set up this is a fantastic option.

Great sound and ease of use and versatility (this device connects with Alexa and Google Assistant and can be easily used across rooms) meant Pocket-Lint also gave the Playbar 5 stars and a coveted "Editor's Choice" award. A small con was the lack of an HDMI slot and then, of course, there is the hefty Sonos price tag.

RTINGS.com loved the build quality and design of the Playbar and thought it offered a balanced sound that was particularly good for dialogue. The lack of connectivity (there is no HDMI connection nor does it have Bluetooth) was an issue as was the low bass performance.
