Pocket Lint reckoned the Samsung UE65Tu8500 represented real value for money. Its smart TV platform (called "Tizen) is great and it really excels when playing computer games due to its low latency. However, some things do set it apart from more expensive sets. The audio was quite average (so you might want to connect a soundbar) and while it has a detailed 4k resolution and its HDR capability (basically the contract of dark and light) is good for the price, it is still weaker than more expensive QLED models.

value for money
great picture with enough connection options on the rear. the ambient option & the latest remote over the 7000 series is worth the little extra. all in all a great TV for the price.

Pros: I love the remote control because it’s small, simple and controls my sky box too
Cons: I looked everywhere to see what hertz the tv had, couldn’t find it until after the tv arrived. It’s only 60hz. I would have given 10’s across the board if it was 120hz (the higher the hz the less ‘stagger’ you get in the picture when the filming camera scrolls across.

Great TV, simple to setup and use
Top quality TV from Samsung. Great features, the picture is spot on and the sound is good as well.

Pros: Picture, sound and ease of use
Cons: Centralised stand is better than almost all alternative TVs in this size/price point as it allows the TV to be placed on a variety of surface widths. Most have legs placed at the extreme width of the TV and will not sit on any surface that is less wide than the TV. However, it would be better if it could swivel on the centre point as my previous Samsung did.

Fantastic picture and features
I’ve had this TV a few weeks now, after researching for months. I wanted a TV that would give me good contrast, good motion control for watching football and no blooming where there are light parts to a dark image and this TV delivers in all areas. I can’t comment on the sound quality really as I run my setup through a surround system. The Tizen operating system is not instant in its response but is by no means slow and doesn’t crash so I’m happy with that. Overall I would definitely recommend this model.

Excellent mid range 4k tv
I bought this for my parents so they can enjoy a quality picture, as they currently (this year) watch so much tv.It was super easy to set up and it gives a good bright picture straight out of box. It is very easy to switch sources using the sammy remote (a massive benefit to us kids who have to try talking them through each step over the phone, or in person!) Decent audio for just using tv speakers, good clarity for speech which is important to people with hearing issues.Price of £699 with 6 years warranty via Richer Sounds - what is not to like!Once playing a 4k movie via the usb port in this instance brings the TV alive. Recognised the different formats on the usb stick and played with zero issues.Bottom line for my purchase for elderly parents was cost, ease of use and very decent lcd picture.

Great TV, great price, great service
After exhaustive research, I finally chose the TU8500. While it is not OLED, it's only half the price of one. The picture quality is first class, and the service from RS was excellent too. Full mart technology, meaning even a technophobe like me has easily managed to configure this TV.

Well worth the money
Recently purchased, and been using for about 1 week now. Significant jump up from a 50" TV and initially thought it was way too big, but now it is up on the wall I have no regrets. The picture on a 4K or HDR feed is amazing - not as vivid as our 55" QLED TV to be fair, but for the price I feel it is excellent value for money. We have connected a Fire TV stick, but not sure why really as the TV has all the smart features we need - BBC iPlayer, ITV, Amazon Prime, Netflix etc all work flawlessly, and the quick access buttons on the remote controls (yes, there are two remote controls included!) are really useful.Service from Richersounds was fantastic as usual, my only gripe is that delivery took 4 days. I appreciate you can pay a premium for next day delivery, but when others can do next day at zero cost I just feel Richersounds are behind the times a little on that aspect. All in all, very happy with my purchase and would not go anywhere else for my home entertainment needs.
