BBC Good Food felt the Russell Hobbs 23620 Fast Bake Breadmaker really delivered good value for money. The results it produced tasted as good as many other, much more expensive, models from other manufacturers. It has a good range of 12 pre-programmed recipes, looks nice and, despite its small size, can produce loaf sizes up to 1Kg. It was also fairly easy to use and clean. It lacks some bells and whistles of higher-end models (most importantly a seed dispenser), but it does a very good job at this price.

Good Housekeeping was less impressed by the Russell Hobbs 23620 Compact Breadmaker. They felt despite its compact size it performed competently but to get truly good results you will have to experiment with the recipes provided. When Good Housekeeping's own recipes were used the results were impressive. There were certain compromises for its small size too - the lid felt loose, the display screen doesn’t light up and there are no measuring cups or spoons thrown in.
