Marthe De Florian was a Parisian socialite and actress with a notorious sex life that was rumoured to have included a French Prime Minister and painter Giovanni Boldini. She lived on the Right Bank in Paris not far from the Opéra Garnier during the Belle Époque (French for “beautiful era”). She left the flat to her granddaughter, Madame De Florian, but she had to flee Paris suddenly due to the war in 1942. She died at 91 but never returned to the flat. Only recently did anyone re-enter the apartment, auctioneer Olivier Choppin-Janvry, and what he found was astonishing.
