David Cameron’s Adviser goes a Bit Stewart Pearson

Life has been imitating art as one of David Cameron”s inner circle has had a bit of a meltdown about the refusal of the right of the party to modernise.  Here’s what the unnamed adviser is reported as saying:

“There’s really no problem….The MPs just have to do it because the associations tell them to, and the associations are all mad swivel-eyed loons.” It”s all a bit reminiscent of Stewart Pearson from The Thick of it (see clip above).

The adviser is so far anonymous, but there is growing pressure for the a naming and shaming (and sacking) exercise. Here’s some of the reaction that was pouring out on Twitter.

There has to be a smoking out of this adviser and David Cameron will find himself unable to simply boot this decision into the long grass. He will either have to stand by the adviser, or once again give the back benchers red meat by sacking the individual concerned. It looks for all the world like UKIP could indirectly be getting a scalp this week.
