Off Road CC found the Bosch Fontus to be a very capable cordless pressure washer with a 15-litre tank providing enough water to clean two road bikes, good water flow on high power and a rugged portable build. The downsides include a fiddly hose to tidy away, its heavyweight when full and a pretty substantial price tag. It’s a good choice if you need a lot of cleaning power on the move and can fit it in your car.

The Bosch Fontus impressed Good Housekeeping with the lack of power cord and its lightweight construction making it easy to move around the garden for targeted cleaning. Cleaning could occasionally lead to some dirt splashback and it left some streaks in places but despite being battery powered it still provided the level of a plug-in pressure washer and didn’t take too long to charge.

Get Out With The Kids thought the Fontus would be an excellent choice for cleaning caravans and the tests found it to be a very good, if pricey, all-round pressure washer. While the cordless feature was considered to be a bit of a gimmick, it was found to be very convenient to use and gave quick and easy access to areas that may not be possible with a corded washer. The brush and nozzle were praised, although the black plastic of the brush could leave marks on white surfaces if you are not careful.

A great multi-functioning product
I originally bought this to help with washing my motorcycle however I found that it's very useful for so many things around the house and garden. There are three different pressure settings, the lowest is a light dribble which is great to wash off muddy paws or to lightly water plants with. I don't have an outside tap in my home so I find this very use to water my garden compared to a conventional watering can which would entail me running inside to fill it up every 3 minutes. The unit holds around 15 litres of water. There's brush attachment and a sprinkler attachment which has four settings. It's worth noting that even at the highest setting, this does not have the pressure of a conventional pressure washer... which is understandable give that it's powered by a 18v lithium ion battery. in my experience, the battery lasts for about 7 full tanks at the maximum pressure settings, which is more than enough for what I need. I love Bosch products because the battery the same as their 18v DIY range, so if you have a drill, strimmer, leaf blower in the 18v range, you can use the same battery! Finally, the built quality is okay, the flap where the battery is kept is a little loose and often needs to be shaped into place to stay closed, I'm sure John Lewis/Bosch would be happy to sort that for me, but it's not a big deal. I have tried to pressure wash my patio with it, but it's doesn't do a very good job, I think it trades off pressure/performance for mobility, and I have no problems with that!

Cleaning small conservatory
Have reached the stage where it's becoming such a chore to do this. Pressure is good for a battery operated machine, obviously not up to mains type products. Cleaned the outside of the roof by taking it upstairs and accessing from a window overlooking conservatory. Quite heavy when filled with water, so take it upstairs empty! V useful to cleaning the gutter, loosening the debris which I could then scoop out into a bucket. A much better job than doing it by hand with a bucket and cloth. Jet excellent for cleaning out debris from the gap between the lower frame and window ledge. Can recommend for small jobs. Probably be handy for cleaning the car but haven't tried it yet for this

Great portable washer
I was fed up putting mud covered bikes, sandy canoes, muddy boots into my car. This portable pressure washer with its 3 phase pressure setting and 3 different nozel setting makes cleaning them so easy when away from home. Easy to use around the house cleaning window seals, gutters, fascias, patio furniture etc. Again cleaning the bike down after hitting some muddy tracks before being indoors. Just saves using a mains powered jet washer which you have to plug in, connect a hose and then keep moving them around as they get in the away, or just too short for the job you're trying to reach. I'd say this machine is good for most jobs except doing a large patio where a more powerful mains washer would be needed. But the portability of this unit makes it stand out. Great if you live in a flat and no access to a hose or mains. I looked at other battery washers like Mobi and Karcher but, I decided on this Bosch unit as its better made and a better spec for the price.
